Women Artists: Georgia O'Keefe

Do Now: Would you rather go forward in time to the future, or back in time to the past? Why? Draw and write!

Today marks our last day studying Georgia O'Keefe. The 3rd and 4th graders did a wonderful job! I was particularly impressed with one student, who noticed that both Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keefe were female painters during the same time period. We learned that Georgia O'Keefe visited Mexico, and this student asked if Frida and Georgia knew each other. I did not know the answer, and looked it up on our class computer. She was right! Georgia and Frida wrote letters to each other for many years. Everyone learned something new that day!

The 3rd and 4th grade finished up their water color paintings and though it was a challenging project, they did a wonderful job!
