Primary Colors

Today the 1st and 2nd graders got their sketchbooks and had a chance to complete their first "Do Now", a writing or drawing prompt that students will complete as they enter the room each day.

Today's "Do Now" was "My goal for art this year is..."

Students then learned about the primary colors, with a little help from this catchy sesame street song.

We then turned to the work of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian to see primary colors in action.

Mondrian's work uses black, white, and the primary colors to create striking geometric pieces.

The 1st and 2nd grade used construction paper, scissors, and glue to make Mondrian-inspired primary color collages.
