Europe: France

Today the 1st and 2nd graders are moving on to a new continent: Europe. Our first stop is the country of France.

After brainstorming what we already know about France (Eiffel tower, the French language…) we read a fun book called "Everybody Bonjours!" by Leslie Kimmelman.

Next, we learned a bit about the Cathedral Notre Dame de Paris, or the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

We talked a bit about the Cathedral's history, but mainly about its stained glass windows.

For our project today, we made our own 'stained glass', using tissue paper, glue, and paper cups.

By glueing tissue paper to the inside of transparent plastic cups, we made beautiful sun-catchers that have a similar look to stained glass.
