Introduction to World Art

Do Now: Draw your favorite memory from winter break.

Today, the 1st and 2nd graders began a new unit that will take us through spring break - World Art. In this unit, students will learn about the 7 continents and 'travel' around the world, stopping in 1-3 countries in each continent. We will learn a bit about the culture, listen to some traditional music, and do a related art project. 

Before we can begin exploring the world, we need to know what it looks like first! After discussing the definition of what a 'continent' is (the largest body of land) and leaning how many continents there are (7!), we colored in world maps.
